Nowadays, income means survival. Without it, it would be very difficult to exist in this world where money is needed in almost everything. That’s why it is important to find a career that can suffice the financial needs. But, it’s not just the financial need that needs to be met. There are other factors that need to be answered.

Finding the right job isn’t an easy thing. There are lots of opportunities available from the office jobs, to the sales to the home health aide jobs. No matter how ripe the field of opportunity, it’s easy to focus so much on impressing the right people to land a job. But, there is a risk on forgetting to ask an important question: “Do I actually want to work here?”

Some fail to look at this point and jump at the first offer. Or if you have more than one offer, you may instinctively choose the job with the highest salary. But there are other financial factors to consider, as well as the job’s compatibility with your skills, lifestyle and ambitions. To make the smart choice, evaluate other factors before making a decision.

Benefits. Find out how much medical and dental coverage you’ll get, which flexible spending plans the employer offers and whether the company offers a pension or 401(k) savings plan — and if it will match your 401(k) contributions. Consider other financial perks like signing bonuses, home-buying assistance as well as non-financial perks like flexible working hours.

Location. Consider locations with lower cost of living will stretch your paycheck. Check out our picks of smart cities for singles and young couples for more prime locations to consider.

Transportation. Consider how much time you spend to get to and from work and how much it will cost you. Other than that consider how stressful the commute is, too.

Opportunities for advancement. Seek for a company that offers advancement as no one wants to be stuck in a dead-end job.

Work environment. This is one of the most important things to consider as you will spend most of your time in the office.

Job security. Even if you don’t have plans on sticking for the rest of your adult life in one company, find one that is financially stable and well-performing in the industry. The last thing you want is to end up without a job because the company went out of business.

One of the crucial stages of any job search is the interview. This is where employers get to meet and know more about the applicants who aspire to work for them. Indeed you’ve got what it takes to be part of their company, and you have to show them that. Thus, the first step in letting them know that you’re the ONE, is by dressing right for the interview. Here are some quick tips you should remember:

Dress with respect - it is alright to follow the current fashion trends, but make sure that you wear clothes that solicit respect and not unwanted attention. This makes you look responsible, focused, and good-mannered-traits all employers look for in each and every applicant.

Dress appropriately - avoid wearing casual outfits such as shirts, denim jeans and sneakers especially when the job you’re applying for involves corporate work. You may see employees wearing these clothes, but you are still an applicant-you will only get that privilege once you get hired. This is a career search, not a treasure-hunt. Dressing appropriately also makes you look very much interested with the job.

Dress with confidence - you may not be accustomed in wearing slacks, long-sleeved polo shirts or blouses, but this is one sacrifice you must make in any job application. Why not try these clothes at home first to see which makes you look smart. Once you find the right outfit, you would not only look good but also feel good. This would also make the interviewer see that you are talented, and brave enough for the job.

Keep in mind that first impressions are the ones that last, so better set the mark at your employer’s first glance. Make your dream career find you.

Ideal candidate is an idea in the minds of hopeful employers. Employers seldom get every quality they’d like. You can win even if you don’t have all the qualifications. Being the ideal candidate, then, doesn’t mean you have to conform to a rigid set of specifications. You have a measure of flexibility. But you must be somewhere in an employer’s ball park, not way outside it. Stick to what matters, you’ll be seen as a strong candidate if:

You stress the qualifications you have that are what the employer wants.
You ignore the ones you’re missing.
You don’t volunteer any information about yourself that’s not responsive to the employer’s needs.

Never ramble on about yourself. If you spill out your whole background, and all your hopes and dreams, on the table for the employer’s inspection, you’re very likely to reveal some fact, some tendency, some objective, some like or dislike that will put you out of the running. Deal with areas you know to be of interest to the employer, and nothing else.

How to keep from being weeded out?

Remember that the employer is in the process of weeding candidates out. Let’s say she has ten candidates for one of the top sales careers for women, but she can only hire one of them. When the hiring is over, there’ll be one new sales professional, and nine unsuccessful candidates.

The employer must disqualify nine people, and she’s looking for reasons to weed them out.

Find out what a prospective employer looking for. It’s not hard to do. Just ask.

What are the functions the person in this position will perform?
What are the strengths you’re looking for in an ideal candidate?
What changes would you like to see made in the way this job is done?
What is the most important objective of this department?

Answers to such questions as these will tell you exactly what to talk about concerning your own strengths, education and experience. It’s like borrowing somebody’s watch so you can tell her what time it is.

Again, find out what’s important to the employer, and then address those needs and interests. Stay away from everything else. At this point you don’t know whether other, unrelated facts about your background will make you look good, or get you weeded out. Play it cool and safe.

Remember, if you want to be successful in your effort to impress an employer; learn to think like an employer. Consider what he or she really wants, and why. Make a serious effort to see the world from the employer’s perspective because your own point of view is not what counts here. It’s the employer who will make the decision to offer you a job, or not.

Or when you need to get quality hearing health care? These questions can be answered simply by an Audiologist.

By definition, Audiology is the study of hearing and hearing related disorders. An Audiologist is a “hearing health care professional” who identifies and assesses individuals with auditory (hearing) and/or balance concerns, problems or disorders. It is a highly recognized profession with great salary package depending on educational background, specialty and experience, along with the geographical location and type of setting in which they work.

Audiologist jobs can be found in hospitals, community health centers, private practice offices, schools, universities and some doctors’ offices. The job requires the ability to relate to patients/clients and their families about the diagnosis of disability. They are also the one to create an audiologic rehabilitation treatment plans. Thus, by virtue of their education, they are considered the most qualified professional to assess and make a non-medical diagnosis (e.g. type and severity) of hearing impairment.

There are many ways in which a young professional in the United Kingdom is able to fulfill his or her career potential. A young worker in any industry can work as a freelance or contract employee, gaining experience and saving enough money to start their own consulting firm. Other professionals enter training program’s at a large corporation, slowly but surely moving up the corporate ladder. A majority follow the traditional path of moving from the entry-level to the management level with heavy reliance on their own wits, ability and determination.

Young professionals who realize the common thread that runs through all three of these groups can figure-out another path for success. A freelancer, a trainee, and a regular professional all have to go through training programs and undergo relevant corporate education throughout their careers. As such, these workers all encounter job trainers or coaches in their efforts to advance in the workplace. Graduates and young professionals in a variety of industries should possibly consider a training job as a way of fulfilling their potential.

Trainers within corporations or consultancies provide a valuable service to other professionals. IT trainers help programmers and software developers learn about new developments in the workplace. Sales trainers help new trainees learn the tricks of their trade. Training consultants go into the workplace to help a wide variety of clients improve their in-house performance. By helping others fulfill their potential as professionals, a trainer is helping himself or herself to realize their own potential.

Many training professionals enter the field because it gives them license to teach others using their own techniques. Corporations that use trainers almost certainly have set materials that must be covered and in-house techniques which have proven successful in the past. However, trainers at many businesses are allowed to insert some of their own techniques, methods, and personality into their courses. After all, going over the same material ‘ad infinitum’ can be monotonous. Training professionals are able to realize professional success by stepping outside of the normal comfort zone and putting a little of themselves into each presentation.

Finally, training professionals benefit from a number of perks to which other professionals may not have access. IT and manufacturing trainers often receive prototypes of products that are about to be unveiled to the public. These gadgets often have intricacies that need to be explained to sales people, which means a trainer gets access to all sorts of new technology. In addition, trainers get to travel and to experience a wide variety of interactions in their daily lives. All of these perks are rewards for the trainer who has made a decision to realize their full potential.

Of the 1 million+ websites that refer to emotional intelligence, 90% of the first few dozen contain the word, ‘borrowed’, indicating that at the moment we have two main competitors vying for the correct definition. Literature would suggest that while Goleman sees emotional intelligence as an all-encompassing umbrella that covers everything non-cognitive, the two ‘co-founders’, Salovey and Mayer, consider it to be a much narrower experimental concept that may or may not have any scientific basis.

From Salovey and Mayer’s very simple idea that emotions may play a part in people’s decision-making, and that the set of ‘intelligence’ and the set of ‘emotions’ may intersect, Goleman stretched it into a panacea for all the ills of academia, IQ-based and Bell Curve labelling.

While Salovey and Mayer contend that Goleman has distorted their simple idea beyond the realms of what they had originally intended, (and made a lot of money in the process), Goleman states that he was merely the catalyst for that leap from idea to actuality. Goleman’s writings and seminars have awakened in many people the need to have a feeling of self-worth despite their ‘measured’ intellect (IQ); so much so, that his book sold 5 million copies worldwide. Even though they are not yet proven or based on scientific fact Goleman’s ideas have been widely accepted in two main areas: that of education and business and because emotional intelligence he states is ‘learnable’ (whereas intelligence is potential), then if schools can include emotion intelligence lessons within their programmes all is not lost for the non-academic. He goes so far as to say that it’s congeniality and not sheer smarts that wins the day, and that “nice matters most” – the very claim that Salovey and Mayer dispute so strongly.

Part of his fragile research is based on data gathered from newspaper advertising, where he categorized ‘help wanted’ advertisements into ‘cognitive’ or ‘emotion-related’ attributes discovering that ‘emotion-related’ qualities outnumbered ‘cognitive’ by two-to-one.

There seems to be no doubt in the minds of business management that emotional intelligence does play a part in the success of business transactions and that ‘nerds’ are okay in their place, and in a limited way, but candidates with a well-rounded emotional competence and personality are preferred when large contracts are to be negotiated with government or corporate clients.

“Being a geek is no longer enough”, is the headline in the Wednesday, November 5, 2003 New Zealand Herald E26, and quotes “that employers, recruiters and training firms all say, ‘soft’ skills, like being able to communicate with customers and work with teams are often as important as the ability to hack out screeds of C+ or VB on demand or to unravel the mysteries of the LAN.”

So while Goleman’s success seems to stick in the craw of Salovey and Mayer, even though his theories are widely adopted by education and business institutions, we should be cautious since we are not yet able to quantify success or even put a definition on its meaning. Stankov is even more scathing when he states: “Like psychoanalysis, it can provide a nice topic for after-dinner conversation, but nothing else.” Wow! What a killer statement!

It’s a long time since our last conversation that’s why I feel happy after hearing something about him. Well, he is happy to announce that there are lots of airport jobs available. He is inviting me to send my resume to those companies. He is actually working in the airport where he has high position that’s why he has access to the openings.

Sounds great for me! I have been planning to go back to the corporate world. But, I’m still waiting for the right opportunity. I think it’s a good idea to look at the job openings and weigh things out. I hope I will find something that fits the description I’m looking for a long time.

Other than computers, a vga cable can also be used in some gaming consoles like Xbox 360. This cable will allow the use of the gaming device using a computer monitor that offer better quality picture. But, a much better quality picture can be generated if the device is used in television that can connect through a component video connection or a high-definition input such as HDMI.
