By definition, hard water contains high concentrations of dissolved magnesium and calcium. The problem associated to this is the staining and lime scale buildup in sinks, tubs, showers, and clothing. Even though it is suitable for drinking and gardening, hard water can cause mineral build-up in water heaters, pipes, dishwashers and shower heads, reducing its flow. Soap and shampoo’s ability to lather is reduced, and laundry becomes stiffer and duller in appearance.
