With the proliferation of illegal drugs and alcohol, addiction becomes a major treat to any companies big or small. This will cost the company time and money in the form of decreased productivity and increased absenteeism coupled with accidents, insurance claims and higher health care expenses.

Of course, the company’s productivity and teamwork are also affected. They could not continue to have a problem employee in their league as this will affect everyone. To stay competitive, businesses must look for solutions to relieve employee from addictions and promote a healthy, productive work environment.

There are different aspects of drug addiction that is the reason there are different approach to counter it. Mostly, drug rehab is best for those who are serious to completely change their life through detoxification and rehabilitation treatment. Other approached can be used for those who have low-dose habits for short periods of time.

Business must take this problem seriously as well. The workplace itself will suffer from the addicts errors in judgment, moodiness, missed deadlines, and depending upon the job description, public safety can be at risk as well. Like I mention earlier, it would cost them more if not treated accordingly.
